Bill banning imports from Xinjiang supported by US House of Congress
On September 22, the US House of Representatives approved a bill banning the import of a number of goods from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. The meeting was broadcast on the website of the legislature. For the initiative providing for blocking the import into the country of goods produced, as lawmakers suggest, as a result of the use of forced labor, 406 congressmen voted, three opposed. The goods will be banned from import until the US Customs and Border Protection confirms the non-use of forced labor in its production. If the bill is approved by the Senate, it will be signed by the US president. Recall that in Xinjiang, the main population are Uighurs. As part of the fight against separatism, the Chinese authorities resort to some restrictions for residents of the area. According to the news agency, the import into the United States of a number of goods from the Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region of China fell under the ban of Washington. The import of computer components, some cotton products, was banned. These measures were imposed as pressure on Beijing, which, according to the US Department of Homeland Security, violates human rights in Xinjiang.
